Globalisation is increasingly becoming a feature of the business landscape and as Australian businesses expand globally, they often need advice on how to structure their operations in foreign jurisdictions and how to fund their international expansion. This session aimed to give an overview of the tax issues associated with choosing to set up a foreign subsidiary versus a permanent establishment. It also provided an overview of the tax issues that need to be considered in funding offshore transactions.
