The Federal Government has now released the preliminary exposure draft legislation (with draft explanatory material) to put in place the Minerals Resource Rent Tax ("MRRT"?).

Although the preliminary exposure draft legislation is still subject to ongoing consultation, it establishes the core framework for the operation of the MRRT.

  • definition of a project
  • calculation of mining revenue
  • starting base allowances.

This event also considered implementation strategies.
