Below you'll find answers to the questions we get asked the most on our new Introduction to the Australian tax system unit.

Membership of The Tax Institute is not required to undertake the Introduction to the Australian tax system unit.
Members of The Tax Institute receive a discount when purchasing the unit for themselves or their staff. Discount codes to be used at checkout will be distributed to members via email.

There is no need to purchase any additional resources. Everything you'll require to complete the unit is included in, or linked from witihin the online learning environment. 

You'll need a reliable internet connection. To ensure full functionality on the platform, we recommend you use current and previous major releases of the following browsers:

  • Chrome
  • Firefox (Extended Releases are not suported).
  • Edge 
  • Respondus Lockdown Browser (supporting the latest system requirements)
  • Safari 15 and 16 (Macintosh only)

Canvas, our online learning platform houses the videos as well as knowledge checks. From this same platform you can download the presentations. 

To receive your Certificate of Completion, you will need to demonstrate your understanding of the learning by successfully completing the knowledge checks embedded within the unit to progress.
These consist of 5-7 multiple choice and/or true/false questions per module.  Multiple attempts are permitted, with an 80% pass mark required.

You will be prompted to create an account with Canvas, our online learning platform to complete your purchase.
If someone purchases a unit on your behalf, they will provide Canvas with your email address so you are prompted to create your Canvas account to commence learning.

Once you've logged in, we suggest you bookmark the site, so you can easily return and pick up where you left off.

Please note that enrolment and administrative emails from Canvas will be sent from Instructure <notifactions@instructure.com> please check your junk folder if they do not appear in your inbox.

Yes, you set the pace. The only restriction is that you have 8 weeks from the date of purchase to complete the learning and receive your certificate.

Upon successful completion, you'll be invited to download your PDF Certificate of Completion. You will also receive an email from Canvas with a link to your certificate.
