SYDNEY, 29 November 2024: The Tax Institute is pleased to welcome Tim Sandow, CTA, Tax Partner at accounting firm BDO, as its President for 2025. Tim has been the Institute’s Vice President for 2024 and has sat on the Institute’s National Council since 2018.
Tim says, ‘I’m excited to kick off my time as President in 2025, and excited to further represent our members in that capacity. The Tax Institute is the home of tax in Australia. From education programs to CPD events, tax resources to professional recognition, when tax practitioners think tax, those in the know think The Tax Institute.’
‘One of the key things we do, which I’m passionate about, is advocating for the profession and in particular, on behalf of our members. Over the years, and perhaps particularly in recent years, our advocacy work has also gained us a reputation as the voice of tax.’
‘One thing that has been made clear over the last four years is that real advocacy requires and then results in real action. From the days of COVID-19 JobKeeper measures, to the more recent TASA changes, the activity of our advocates has made a genuine impact on the shape of our tax system.’
‘The Tax Institute’s role as the voice of tax is not about how smart we are. It’s about how effectively we can represent our members’ concerns, ideas and opinions.’
In 2025, The Tax Institute has a full schedule of professional development opportunities for tax practitioners, including 27 major CPD events, three intake opportunities for structured learning, along with open-ended options for micro credential learning and regular member-exclusive resources.
Tim says he ‘really looks forward to seeing and engaging with members at an event this year, working on advocacy matters and representing the Institute’s members and their interests.’
