While many practitioners have advised clients on their trust arrangements for decades, the administration and taxation of discretionary trusts continues to be one of the most complex and challenging areas for legal and tax practitioners. This practical presentation will address common issues and recent changes to trust administration and to transactions confronting legal and tax advisers to manage trust arrangements risk from a commercial, legal, drafting and taxation liability perspective.
Ron will discuss
- Trustee obligations to consider and provide disclosure and documents to beneficiaries
- Managing adverse tax assessments for trustees and beneficiaries
- FIDS (Tas) and FILTS (Tas) for discretionary trusts and foreign beneficiary exclusions
- Intergenerational Farm Transfer Duty changes.
