Stephen joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as a VAT Partner in January 1997 and works in the VAT practice in
London. Prior to that he was at Simmons & Simmons as a qualified solicitor from 1987, becoming a partner in 1991, and head
of corporate tax in 1995. Stephen is the current President of the Confédération Fiscale Européenne (CFE) and is in his second
year of office. Prior to that, Stephen became Chairman of the CFE Committee in 2005, the first indirect tax practitioner to do
so. Previously he chaired its Indirect Tax Committee from 2001 to 2004. He has been a member of the CFE Fiscal Committee
since 1997, when he joined to work on the SLIM Task Force and has worked consistently to strengthen the CFE’s relationship
with the Tax Directorate of the Commission.
