Corporate Responsibility

Promoting our profession

The Tax Institute’s mission is to educate and build expertise in tax and to raise the status of the tax profession. We are committed to serving the best interests of the profession as well as the wider community affected by tax policy.

The Tax Institute is a respected and influential contributor to the development of tax policy and administration in Australia. As part of this contribution, we prepare top level submissions on tax policy, administration and technical matters at both Federal and State levels. These submissions and advocacy work is all done in conjunction with tax practitioners and feedback from the profession.

Further, we promote stand-out individuals through our personal Tax Adviser of the Year Awards, which have a strong focus on ethics and professionalism, and are strongly involved in the tax community. This combined with our rigid focus on the integrity and character of our members and candidates we are focused on a respected future of our community.

Supporting our community

The Tax Institute is a Corporate Supporter of Lifeline.

For nearly 50 years Lifeline's 13 11 14 telephone crisis service has operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year taking calls from all across Australia – a friendly voice, during a time of crisis, at the end of a phone line. Lifeline rely on donors to provide their essential services.

Somewhere in Australia there is a new call to Lifeline every minute. If you are able to make a donation (however big or small) either one off or regularly, please call us now on 1800 800 768 or go online at www.lifeline.org.au.

The Tax Institute regularly requests feedback from our members, and the broader tax profession.

Our most recent survey received hundreds of responses, for which The Tax Institute donated $1 for each to Lifeline Australia as well as increasing the overall donation substantially.

Lifeline Australia provide an extremely important service to the community with their 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention line and receive over one million contacts each year from help seekers. To find out more about Lifeline Australia or to make a donation, please visit their website.
